NAZI COWARD MUST GET TIME

A man has been arrested for scrawling anti-Jewish propaganda on nearly 20 cars in Queens last week, police said.

James Connolly, 20, of 60-05 170th St. in Flushing, was charged with 18 counts of criminal mischief as a hate crime, police said.

Police said a witness fingered him for the string of graffiti, which plastered cars on 164th Street between 65th and 67th avenues in Fresh Meadows with swastikas and a message written in black marker: "Kill the Jews, 7-14-05."

The date may refer to July 14, 1933, the day Adolf Hitler banned all political parties, except for the Nazis, in Germany.

The incident outraged the community, where many residents are Holocaust survivors however, the JDO is convinced that Abe Foxman will come to this Nazi's defense and make sure he goes into a program rather than spending time on "the rock" - Riker's Island.

MANHATTAN: PROTEST OVER HOLOCAUST SKEPTIC About two dozen protesters chanting "evict the Nazi" rallied yesterday in front of the Upper West Side apartment building of a man who has questioned historical accounts of the Holocaust. Some of the two dozen or so demonstrators, who were watched by a similar number of police officers, - said that the man, Michael Santomauro, had been holding meetings with his supporters in the building, on 72nd Street near West End Avenue. "We have to take a stand on this hatred being brought into the community," said James Vrettos, 55, a sociology professor at Yeshiva University. Mordechai Levy, left, of the Jewish Defense Organization, said he organized the rally after hearing that Mr. Santomauro had held a gathering at a nearby church last month. A doorman in the building, Jay Roman, said that he knew of no meetings. Mr. Santomauro, who founded a roommate matching service in 1979, could not be reached for comment yesterday, but in an article in The New York Times in 2003, he called himself an "amateur Holocaust revisionist." More than two dozen members of a militant Jewish group demonstrated yesterday outside an Upper West Side building demanding the eviction of a man they accuse of being a "Nazi." Michael Santomauro, who has lived in the West 72nd Street building for 25 years, preaches hate on his Web site and organized a neo-Nazi meeting across the street last June, claimed Jewish Defense Organization leader Mordechai Levy. Santomauro, 50, said, "[The Nazi label] is totally inaccurate. Being anti-Israeli does not mean being anti-Semitic." He first gained attention in 2003 when his room- mate-referral Web site sent out e-mails to its members questioning the Holocaust. The JDO said his other Web site questions whether the "Holocaust story" is "kosher." One building resident said he'd innocently struck up a conversation with Santomauro about politics and "he offered me $5,000 if I could prove Anne Frank died in the gas chamber." Santomauro said the June meeting was attended by "historical revisionists" rather than Nazis. Santomauro said yesterday's rally made him the victim of "domestic terrorism" and called the JDO "the Jewish version of skinheads."

HOLOCAUST REVISIONIST STARTS FEUD ON UPPER WEST SIDE

By CHUCK BENNET amNewYork Staff Writer

A rumble is brewing on the Upper West Side between members of the militant Jewish Defense Organization and a self described Holocaust "revisionist." For 20 years, Michael Santamauro has lived in a rent-controlled apartment on W. 72nd St. He runs a small Internet business, roommatefinders.com, while writing and disseminating articles that deny the Holocaust. Recently, he began organizing Holocaust denial lectures in the neighborhood - one of them featuring David Irving, an infamous English Holocaust denier.

"There is nothing kosher about a neo-Nazi headquarters on the Upper West Side," Jeffrey Silver, an organizer with the Jewish Defense Organization, told amNewYork.

Silver said he learned of Santamauro's links with Holocaust deniers last week and embarked on a campaign to get him evicted. Since Santamauro runs a business out of his home, Silver said, he violates the lease.

Although Santamauro's Web site posts virulently anti-Semitic messages on the discussion board, he denied being a neo-Nazi or hating Jews. "Every time I dabble into anti-Zionist politics, they have a death threat on me," Santamauro told amNewYork, referring to Jewish groups.

He espoused the writings of the California-based histitute for Historical Review a group the Anti-Defamation League called "the foremost Holocaust denial organization in the United States."

When asked if he believed that six million Jews were killed in concentration camps, Santamauro said, "I think people play with numbers. Whatever you can get away with."

Silver compared Santamauro to Thomas Zibelli, the Bronx man accused of recruiting neighborhood kids with booze and porn to take part in neo-Nazi activities.

"We want them all out," he said.

The Jewish Defense Organization has already plastered the neighborhood with fliers calling Santamauro a "Nazi pig" and demanding his eviction.

The group will stage a protest outside the building in two weeks. A spokesman for West Pierre Associates, the owner of Santamauro's building, was not available for comment yesterday. But the doorman said Santamauro has "always been a gentleme"

One concerned neighbor, Andy Moskowitz, said he doesn't want Nazis in the neighborhood, but added, "If a guy invited people to his apartment to discuss Holocaust denial, it seems to be okay"

NAZI ON HIS WAY TO EVICTION

by Bobby Ciafardini

Following his release from jail last week after a judge set his bail at $10,000, Morris Park resident and alleged neo-Nazi Thomas Zibelli denies charges that he used alcohol and pornography to recruit Bronx teenagers to plaster stickers, featuring swastikas and hate messages on the Throggs Neck Jewish Center and other locations in the Bronx and lower Westchester two weeks ago.

According to published reports and police sources, the 33-year-old, who lives at 1811 Radcliff Avenue, claims that two of the five teen neighbors that he is charged with enticing into spreading the anti-Semitic have lied to authorities about Ku Klux Klan-like gatherings and cross burnings in Pelham Bay Park. Zibelli has also denied his involvement regarding charges about the stickers and the purchasing of booze and porn as a payment to the teens to help him spread messages of hate and Nazi power.

Zibelli’s brother, Alfred, who also lives at 1811 Radcliff Avenue, said that his brother was staying away from their home after meeting bail and being released. "Tommy’s not here," he said. "His lawyer’s told him not to talk to the press."

Thomas Zibelli, who reportedly sports tattoos of the Nazi Iron Cross on his chest and ankle, appeared in Mount Vernon City Court on September 23 for a hearing. He has been charged with aggravated harassment and criminal mischief – both hate crimes, which are each punishable by up to fours years in jail.

Several residents of 1811 Radcliff Avenue were agitated when confronted with the issue of Zibelli and alleged ties to a neo-Nazi group, as well as the charges that he used porn and alcohol to get local teens to post the Nazi stickers in the Bronx and Westchester.

One tenant slammed the door to his apartment when asked of Zibelli’s whereabouts, saying "Yeah, he lives here, but I don’t want to talk about it. Did you hear me? I don’t want to talk about it!"

Zibelli, a security guard, often patronized a pizza parlor located right next door to his home on Radcliff Avenue. The owner detailed Zibelli’s frequent trips to the pizza place, but said he didn’t ever cause trouble in the shop or stand out from others patrons of the pizzeria. "He would come in and buy his pizza and leave," the owner said. "I don’t know much about him."

Several neighbors seemed unaware of the charges Zibelli is facing, and knew very little about him, other than that he lived on the same block.

Zibelli was arrested at his home on Sunday, September 19 when detectives from the 45th Precinct linked him to hate stickers after a 15-year-old was arrested earlier this month in connection with a robbery near Westchester Sqaure. Detective Tom McLaughlin of the 45th Precinct detective squad helped authorities track down and apprehend Zibelli after he was informed of the unrelated robbery arrest in late August, in which the teen was carrying a Nazi sticker similar to the ones posted at spots in the borough, at the Fleetwood Metro-North train station and other spots in Westchester.

Zibelli was arraigned on charges of aggravated harassment and criminal mischief.

An electronics company in Mount Vernon, where Zibelli was employed, fired Zibelli on Tuesday after he failed to show up for work since his arrest. A company spokesman, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the company has received hundreds of complaints from costumers and others about Zibelli’s alleged actions. Upon word from a local Jewish organization that threatened "to riot" unless Zibelli was fired, the spokesman said, the company, apparently unaware of his actions, terminated his employment. The electronics company is only a couple of blocks away from the Westchester synagogue that Zibelli is charged with defacing.

Other sources have indicated that Zibelli’s landlord, has received similar backlash from neighbors and others about keeping Zibelli as a tenant. The source indicated that Zibelli’s landlord is in the process of trying to evict the alleged neo-Nazi.

In addition to the initial police work that helped authorities nab Zibelli, some recent reports have indicated that investigators from the NYPD’s Hate Crime Unit have questioned three Bronx teenagers about the neo-Nazi and their relationship with him. Three teens were reportedly picked up outside of Herbert H. Lehman High School last week and questioned about Zibelli’s hate-spewing activities.

Patrol officers and detectives from the 45th Precinct and other investigators, who were recognized for their work on the case this week by Borough President Adolpho Carrion, Jr. and various religious leaders from the Bronx, continue to look into Zibelli’s connection with hate crimes in the Bronx and in Westchester County.

If convicted, Zibelli faces up to eight years in prison.

A militant Jewish group based in Manhattan, the Jewish Defense Organization has launched an angry campaign to get a neo-nazi who organized two atacks on synagogues recently evicted from his Bronx building. The effort is against THOMAS ZIBELLI long time neo-nazi leader of the NATIONAL ALLIANCE. JDO through its hotline, flyers, and website, and e mails is making a campaign to have huge numbers of Jews call the neo-nazi’s landlord at 1811 Radcliif, a Mrs Pini, telephone (718-828-1523) and demand that the neo-nazi misfit who turned his basement apartment into Nazi Headquarters, Thomas Zibelli, evicted. JDO Intelligence Unit had been aware for some time that the neo-nazis had an active chapter in that area. Meanwhile the neo-nazis acted as a group when they attacked those synagogues, and JDO demands that all 5 fellow Nazis be prosecuted. "These neo-nazi and KKK Jew-Hating racist terrorist have done violence against Jews and other minorities, and must be crushed" said JDO spokeman David Wechsler. " JDO is launching Operation Nazi-Kicker" to run the Nazis out of their homes, and out of this state permanently" he added.

NAZI RECRUITER

By LORENA MONGELLI, ERIKA MARTINEZ and MARSHA KRANES ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------

September 21, 2004 --

A Bronx man with ties to a neo-Nazi group recruited neighbors' kids to plaster hate stickers on a Westchester synagogue and a Metro-North train station, officials charged yesterday.

Security guard Thomas Zibelli rewarded his "ring" of hate-spreading teens with alcohol and pornographic video parties, said Westchester District Attorney Jeanine Pirro.

Zibelli, 33, was ordered held without bail after being arraigned on charges of aggravated harassment and criminal mischief both as hate crimes punishable by up to four years in jail. He was arrested Sunday in his Morris Park apartment, where investigators found an extensive collection of hate material, Pirro said.

He is charged with directing five teen neighbors at 1811 Radcliff Ave. to put up about 65 stickers featuring swastikas and hate messages, including "White Power," "Hitler was right" and "Stop non- white immigration" in the Fleetwood Metro-North station in Mount Vernon in mid-August, Pirro said.

He also had the teens slap the stickers on the windows, doors and signs of the Fleetwood Synagogue, she said.

"This is a case where the defendant has made it clear that his intention was to intimidate the Jews and to create fear in their minds," Pirro said.

She said Zibelli, who sports tattoos of the Nazi Iron Cross on his chest and ankle, also had his ring put up hate stickers in The Bronx.

"It is clear from what he possessed [in his apartment] and from the images and tattoos on his own body, he's an individual who spews hate and bigotry," Pirro said.

She said Zibelli attended Ku Klux Klan meetings and is a member of the neo-Nazi National Alliance.

Detectives linked him to the anti-Semitic stickers when a 15-year-old ring member was arrested early this month in The Bronx for robbery and a swastika sticker was found in his pocket, NYPD sources said. The sticker matched those used to deface the Fleetwood Synagogue and Metro-North station, as well the Throgs Neck Jewish Center in The Bronx, the sources said.

Frank Mascia, a teen who lives on Zibelli's block, said the man area residents refer to as "the Nazi guy" had been "trying to get me into that stuff."

Mascia, 16, said Zibelli denounced him as a "race traitor" for dating a Puerto Rican girl.

"He would tell me to keep it pure" and "used to talk about Hitler and if he won the war, then we wouldn't have any blacks or Jews," he said.

NAZI OF THE WEEK AUGUST 2004

JAMES LESHKEVICH 213 MORGAN HILL ROAD HURLEY NY 845-338-7016 NEW PALTZ - Village Mayor Jason West and a coalition of anti-racism groups have a message for neo-Nazi groups they claim began showing up in the community this summer: Get out.

West said there has been "white power" graffiti, the covert distribution of neo-Nazi literature and several confrontations between Nazi skinheads and anti-racism activists in the village over the summer.

"We've had skinheads come through town a few times in the past," West said. "But now it looks like it's more organized. We're seeing people wearing Skrewdriver (a white power band) shirts and sieg heil-ing around town."

In response to the activity, a group of young New Paltz residents has formed the Anti-Racist Alliance and begun reaching out to other activist groups, like 9/11 People Against Racism, to keep tabs on and discourage the Nazi activity.

"Plain and simple, I do not like neo-Nazi skinheads living in the same town as me," said New Paltz resident and Anti-Racist Alliance member Phoenix Rising, 17. "We're looking for completely non-violent, creative ways to deal with them."

According to alliance members, the issue first surfaced in May with the appearance of neo-Nazi skinhead graffiti on a wooden fence near the New Paltz post office. The spray-painted slogans included the skinhead chant "Oi, Oi, Skins for Life" the phrase "boot boys" and a large Celtic cross which has been adopted as a symbol of "white nationalism."

Anti-Racist Alliance supporters replied by glossing over the graffiti with their own mocking messages, including "grow up," "Soy Soy" and "Humans for Life." The graffiti war continued for several weeks with each side painting over the others messages.

In June, according to state police, fliers from the neo-Nazi group National Alliance were distributed clandestinely in New Paltz and Rosendale, and earlier this month, Anti-Racist Alliance members say, a group of 10-20 Nazi skinheads showed up in town to see a band suspected of having white power leanings play at a local tavern.

While Anti-Racist Alliance members said they did not know which neo-Nazi groups were behind the leaflet drops, the National Alliance earlier this year formed an official Hudson Valley "unit." And National Alliance stickers and fliers have turned up in several places, including Uptown Kingston.

Hurley Resident and National Alliance member James Leshkevich, who uses the moniker "Yankee Jim" on the neo-Nazi Web site www.Stormfront.org is identified on the site as the spokesman for the Hudson Valley unit. Reached by phone, Leshkevich declined to comment on the National Alliance or the situation in New Paltz.

In March, a person identifying himself as Leshkevich posted numerous messages on the Freeman's Web site in response to stories about West presiding over the weddings of same-sex couples. And a posting by "Yankee Jim" on Stormfront Web site urged others to place their opinions on the Freeman site.

New Paltz police did not return calls for comment about the alleged Nazi activity, but Anti-Racist Alliance members said a detective from the department attended a meeting of the coalition and told members the department was "keeping and eye on" several local Nazis.

State Police Lt. Kevin Costello, who oversees counterterrorism intelligence operations in the area, said he was unaware of any serious neo-Nazi activity in the New Paltz area.

REPLY FROM THE SHAYKH OF SPRINGDALE

I'm flattered that you would feature our website at the top of the Subject page (two visitors so far from that link), but if you will read more closely you may see that I do not claim to be "involved with converting old public schools into madrassas" when I recount the events of the last thirty years. An old friend, recently deceased, purchased an old school in Seattle and converted it into what has become a daycare/preschool in a largely black section of Seattle, and also a muslim grade school (State-certified) that has never been wildly successful among Seattle's factionalized muslims.

Also, the article from the Spokane reporter is too early to mention that (1) the challenge to Hite's election was defeated and eventually ~ after four years of completely paralyzed town government ~ dismissed from the Court of Appeals, (2) charges against me by then-Marshal Taylor were dismissed for Taylor's misconduct and I settled my federal lawsuit against him about four years later, and (3) Taylor is no longer the Marshal. John Craig, incidentally, came up with the "Sheikh of Springdale" label, I certainly never used it, and one muslim in the middle of nowhere is not a "self-appointed" anything.

There was a veteran member of the JDL here in Springdale a few years ago, his boys and mine were friendly and I had a few pleasant conversations with him. I don't know where he went, and haven't had a decent conversation with anyone around here since. A sincere believer, there are far too few. I know the JDO is not the JDL, but my impression is that you are sincere in what you profess. Can't fault people for being responsible for their own safety, may He keep you safe.

U.S. initiates citizenship removal action against Queens man

By LARRY NEUMEISTER
Associated Press Writer

December 26, 2002, 7:32 PM EST

NEW YORK -- The federal government moved to revoke the U.S. citizenship of a Queens man Thursday, saying he persecuted Jews as an armed guard at a slave labor camp in Nazi-occupied Poland.

The Justice Department, in a civil complaint in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn, accused Jaroslaw Bilaniuk, 79, of the Douglaston neighborhood, of serving as a guard at the SS Trawniki Training Camp near the Polish town of Trawniki in February 1943.

According to the complaint, the primary purpose of the training camp by early 1942 was to carry out a secret project code-named Operation Reinhard, the Nazi program to exterminate Jews in Poland. The project led to the deaths of about 1.7 million Jews.

Bilaniuk's telephone number was unpublished. A message left with his lawyer was not immediately returned Thursday.

Michael Chertoff, assistant attorney general in charge of the Justice Department's Criminal Division, said Bilaniuk "and his fellow Trawniki men participated in the Nazis' infamous genocidal scheme."

Eli M. Rosenbaum, director of the Criminal Division's Office of Special Investigations, said the civil action was among 10 U.S. prosecutions initiated this year against Nazi persecutors, the most recorded in a single year.

He said only one similar action began this year in the rest of the world, even though a far greater number of Nazi persecutors reside elsewhere.

"At a time when most of the rest of the world has given up on these cases, it would seem surprising we have developed so many of them, but it can be done," Rosenbaum said. "Through these prosecutions, we hope to send a message to all others in this country who took part in these crimes that the U.S. government hasn't forgotten and there's a good chance we will find you."

Bilaniuk underwent guard training, military drills, weapons training and ideological indoctrination at the camp before he served as an armed guard at the SS Labor Camp Trawniki, a forced-labor camp next to the training camp, the complaint said.

Part of his job included preventing prisoners from escaping, the court papers said.

Government lawyers wrote that Bilaniuk by March 31, 1944, was part of an SS Deployment Co. in the Lublin District of Nazi-occupied Poland. The company, they said, committed atrocities against Polish civilians and others.

Even after the training camp was evacuated in July 1944, Bilaniuk became a member of SS Battalion Streibel, which rounded up and guarded thousands of Polish civilians at construction sites in south central Poland, they said.

After the war, Bilaniuk misrepresented his wartime activities, saying he had worked at his own shop in Piadyki, Poland, from July 1941 to June 1944 and at a farm in Saalfeld-Koeditz, Germany, from July 1944 to April 1945, the government said.

He entered the United States on July 29, 1949, and swore to the truth of his immigration information on a document on April 9, 1957, according to the complaint.

He was made a citizen during a proceeding in U.S. District Court in Manhattan on May 13, 1957.
