Columbia scraps plans for speech by Iranian president amid criticism from Jewish group

The Associated Press

UNITED NATIONS Columbia University has scrapped plans for an address by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad because of security and logistical problems. The move came as a Jewish activist group expressed outrage that the hard-line leader had been invited to speak. Ahmadinejad, who was in New York for the annual U.N. General Assembly ministerial meetings that started this week, drew widespread condemnation last year for calling the Holocaust a "myth" and saying Israel should be destroyed.

The New York-based Jewish Defense Organization issued a statement on its Web site, saying it "blasted Columbia University for inviting the vicious Jew-hating President of Iran to speak on its campus." The statement singled out Columbia's President Lee Bollinger."Columbia under Bollinger has opened the door to the 'Hitler of Iran,'" the statement said.

Bollinger denounced Ahmadinejad's past statements but defended the invitation, which was extended by the dean of Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs, Lisa Anderson.

"I find President Ahmadinejad's stated beliefs to be repugnant," he said, while adding that "I have no doubt that Columbia students and faculty would use an open exchange to challenge him sharply and are fully capable of reaching their own independent conclusions." The invitation was extended Wednesday morning at the suggestion of "Iranians at SIPA," a student organization that "encourages public forums about issues of current moment," Anderson said in a statement. She said Ahmadinejad's staff was notified of the invitation on Wednesday morning and accepted at noon, offering to extend his visit to New York until Friday. But, she said, it became clear Wednesday afternoon "that it would not be possible to make the extraordinary logistical and security arrangements necessary on short notice."

A spokesman for Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs, Rob Garris, stressed on Thursday that the decision was made before organizers knew about the Jewish Defense Organization's objections. "The university was very aware and concerned about the fact that he's a controversial speaker," Garris said. "But the fact that he was controversial meant that the logistics were just that much harder."

The New York based Jewish Defense Organization today blasted Columbia University for inviting the vicious Jew-hating President of Iran to speak on its campus. JDO especially blasted university President Bollinger for allowing the most vicious collections of Jew-Haters to speak in the campus in the past. In fact, a known member of the PLO, Edward Said, was invited to be a professor at the school, even after getting caught on film attacking Israeli soldiers. Even Khallid Muhammed the vicious Black Nazi follower of Farrakhan was invited to Columbia where he gave an hour long speech about killing Jews and whites.

Now Columbia under Bollinger has opened the door to the "Hitler of Iran" and JDO is giving out President Bollinger’s phone# and calling upon outraged Jews to call his offices and demand that Columbia stop inviting vicious Jew-Haters like this from ever speaking at Columbia. JDO is also contacting Columbia alumni to cut off money because of this latest outrage. "The only way to bring Columbia to its knees and to really punish Bollinger for allowing this is to get to huge numbers of alumni with a message of stop giving to what has become a platform for vicious enemies of Jews-Israel & America" said JDO National Director Mordechai Levy.

Ahmadinejad evasive on Hezbollah question / But the Iranian president argues the nuclear issue is about development

New York Times

UNITED NATIONS - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad refused to say Thursday whether he would comply with a Security Council demand to disarm and disband Hezbollah, the Tehran-backed guerrilla group that fought a 34-day war with Israel. "I'd like to say that Lebanon's affairs are its own affairs, and we don't want to interfere," he said, when asked about the resolution that ended the combat in Lebanon last month. He was also evasive about whether Iran would comply with the resolution's call for an arms embargo to keep Hezbollah from rearming.

He said the U.N. Charter gave people the right to defend themselves and that "we give spiritual support to all those who want to uphold their rights." Ahmadinejad spoke at a wide-ranging news conference in a packed U.N. conference hall in which he also reiterated Iran's denial that it was pursuing a nuclear weapon and chastised Western countries for trying to curb Iran's right to pursue nuclear energy.

"Iran considers the nuclear issue a political one," he said. "They're not concerned about the bomb, they want to stop the development of our country." Asked about his threat to wipe Israel off the map, he argued that his criticism of Israel had been misinterpreted as a rejection of Jews. "These Zionists are not Jews," he said. "This is the biggest deception we have faced. They are a power group, a power party. We oppose any group that seeks raw power." He said Iran "loves everyone around the world, Jews, Christians, Muslims." But, returning to the subject of Israel, he said, "We announce and declare loudly that you will be condemned by the rest of the world if you displace people from their homes."

His attitude was less belligerent than it had been in his speech to the General Assembly on Tuesday evening. He smiled frequently and even apologized to New Yorkers whom he had seen out his car window having to wait for his motorcade to pass before they could cross the street. As in his General Assembly address, he depicted Iran as a growing country impatient with the current U.N. order that, he said, gave undeserved authority to the nations that won World War II.

Meanwhile, Columbia University scrapped plans Thursday for a speech by Ahmadinejad, citing security and logistical problems. The cancellation came after the New York-based Jewish Defense Organization expressed outrage that the hard-line leader had been invited to speak.

The President of Iran, that Hitler imitator, threatens Israel and Jews and denies there was a Holocaust, even as he invites known neo-nazis to a convention against Jews all over the world and solicits Jew-hating cartoons. This conference to take place in Iran was organized by neo-nazi Holocaust denier Faurisson of France. All this and more, and yet one notices 3 important things missing.

First, why haven’t the Jewish Establishment groups like both AJC’s and Jewish Council for Public Affairs, and the World Jewish Congress, run by Edgar Bronfman and Israel Singer, called for one massive street demonstration against the Nazi imitating Islamic Republic of Iran. This Islamic terror government has tried to get nuclear weapons and threatened to (Heaven Forbid) attempt to "wipe out the Jewish pig people of Israel." Iran has already put innocent Iranian Jews in front of firing squads, for the crime of being Jews. Since 1979 top heads of the Islamic terror Jew-Hating government made links, secret meetings with known neo-nazi leaders as part of a world wide alliance against the Jews. The first to do this was actually Adolf Hitler, who after the Nazis came to power in Germany invited the Mufti, to Germany. The Mufti, a relative of Arafat, a later Arab Hitler, was the precursor of all anti-Jewish terror in Israel. The Mufti ran Arab terror groups that had butchered Jews all over pre-state Israel in the 1920’s and 30’s. The Mufti openly declared that both his Arab Jew-Killing terror group and the Nazis had a common enemy "the evil Jews" and should work together on making a Holocaust against the Jews of Israel and the World. You will also note that the entire anti-war movement in the US from War Resistors League, NION, and IAC, not one has said a word about this. If anything these traitors will come to Iran’s defense! Why? Because the anti-war movement hates Jews, Israel and America, and supports the Islamic homicide bombers both those that target Israel and those who target American troops bravely fighting in Iraq. The poster woman of this sick anti-war scene is Jew-Hater, Israel-Hater Lynne Stewart who speaks at numerous anti-war rallies even after she was convicted for plotting to do terror attacks against Jews living in America. This speaks miles about those self-hating Jews that cheer this enemy of the Jews at those rallies. Recently though some Jews quit the War Resisters League calling it as it is, an anti-Semitic hate group that cheers the murderers of Jews in Israel. This more than thing else explains the mindset of young Jews remaining silent in the colleges as this new Hitler of Iran threatening a new Holocaust (Heaven Forbid) and even the Jewish students around the USA are visibly silent! The reason is two-fold. One many have come under the influence of the anti-Israel anti-war groups, which of course will desensitize them to any threats aimed at Jews. Also many Hillel’s have refused to march or rally about this for a number of worthless excuses, mostly because they too are apathetic, and find it "more convenient" to sit on their hands and do nothing. Secondly, the criminal cowardly silence of the Jewish Establishment has led many Jewish students to think "it can’t be a big deal if Jewish groups are not storming the barricades." JDO met with these Jewish students and told them how the Jewish Establishment in America also sat on its hands while 12,000 Jews a day were gassed in Auschwitz. Instead of marching in front of the White House to demand that then President Roosevelt send air force planes to bomb railroad lines to Auschwitz the Jewish groups like AJC, ADL, B’nai-Brith, Hadassah, all made a decision then as now to be silent, and 6 Million Jews were butchered. Today, we are facing that same deafening silence by young Jews, and older Jews all whom should, NO MUST take to the streets, TO STOP A MAN THAT WANTS TO BE THE NEW HITLER OF IRAN!!! Jews must also pressure any company in US or Europe that trades with Iran to cease all deals or face a boycott form Jews all over the world.

Today the President of Iran is trying to resurrect the NAZI & ISLAMIC TERROR ALLIANCE.

Both the President of Iran and the Neo-Nazis like David Duke, Faurisson, all have one goal to attempt another Holocaust against Jews of the world (Heaven Forbid) and we Jews must stand up to stop them!!!!! TODAY THERE SHOULD BE HUGE RALLIES AGAINST IRAN AT THEIR 3 AVE MISSION ORGANIZED BY THE JEWISH ESTABLISHMENT GROUPS!

First came Hitler, than Stalin who was going to round up every Jew in the USSR and execute them, so it has been about 50 years before a new Hitler emerged from the Jew-hating slime this time an Iranian National Socialist. "Adolf" Ahmadinejad is a Nazi who follows the Qu'ran rather than Mein Kampf but admires Hitler and has the same profile - he is head of a country determined to exterminate millions of Jews with advanced technology - Hitler had gas chambers Ahmadinejad will have nuclear weapons unless is stopped dead in his tracks. Ahmadinejad has worked with European and American neo-Nazis pretending to be scholars - the members of the Holocaust deniers organization are Nazis who know that at least 6 Million Jews were killed but they pretend that they do not believe it as a way of advancing their Nazi agenda. Holocaust denial was invented by Francis Parker Yockey, a Nazi spy and co-ordinator of Odessa, a secret organization of Nazi SS Officers formed after WW II. When the world is ready to erase the memory of one Holocaust, than this is a signal it will be ready for another, so their existence constantly tests the waters for assent to genocide in the population of the world or in world leaders.

"Adolf" Ahmadinejad - Islamist sickness must be terminated with extreme prejudice by Israel. As you read this Iran is enriching uranium moving one step closer to developed an atomic weapon. Unlike the other atomic powers, he WILL USE THIS WEAPON TO DESTROY ISRAEL. The world cannot afford a nuclear exchange in the Middle East. Is Ahmadinejad's life worth throwing the world into an economic depression? What if Hitler had been assassinated? How many lives could have been saved by taking one life? Was Hitler's life worth millions upon millions of other's lives? He must be taken out along with anyone like him who succeeds him...This is why Israel must exist - to deal with world leaders who get obsessed on genocidal thoughts directed at the Jews time after time, generation after generation...

The JDO is attempting to prod Jewish Establishment groups into demonstrating against this new Hitler. They were silent during the extermination of the Jews in Europe, are they going to be silent when Tel Aviv and all its inhabitants is destroyed by one atomic weapon that was not shot down?

The Jewish Defense Organization reports that the Neda Institute For Scientific - Political Research No.20, Forsat Shirazi St., Kargar Shomali St., Tehran, Iran Tel: 0098 6429162 Fax: 0098 6429162 E-mail: neda.ins@dpi.net.ir is recruiting Holocaust deniers to participate in conference on "Revisionism" in Iran. These Iranian Nazis sent this letter to Robert Faurisson, French "revisionist."

Dear Professor Faurisson:

I take this opportunity to express Neda Institute of Scientific-Political Research and Studies' deep sorrow to you and all revisionists regarding the UN resolution on "Holocaust Day" [of November 1, 2005]. President Mahmud Ahmadinejad's recent remarks doubting the "Holocaust" have created a favourable situation for revisionism. Our assumption for the time being is that the President will undoubtedly do his best if you make contact and request assistance for organising an international conference on revisionism. Should you require any help in this regard, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With the best of good wishes,

Dr Jawad Sharbaf, Managing Director, Neda Institute

Tehran, 5 Jan. (AKI) - Iran has decided to rewrite and revise the history of the Holocaust. Following the repeated declarations by the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and other senior government officials on the need to re-examine the history of the genocide of the Jews during the Second World War, the association of Islamic Journalists of Iran has been tasked with quickly putting together an international conference on the Holocaust.

"President Ahmadinejad has placed at the centre of international attention, a very important question on the truthfulness of the version that Europe and the Zionists have imposed on the world on the murder of Jews during the years of the great war, and therefore we are of the opinion that it is useful and necessary to organise an international conference on that theme, where all the historians and researchers, even those that do not believe in the official version, will be able to express themselves freely," Mehdi Afzali, spokesperson of the Association of Islamic Journalists told Adnkronos International (AKI).

"We want to offer a free and democratic platform to the historians to examine in-depth this myth, seeing that in different European countries there exist laws against democracy and freedom that to do not allow intellectuals who believe in a version distinct from that which is officially pronounced on the Holocaust," added Afzali.

"We will invite those who believe in the imposed version as well as all those who have spent years of their lives in the study of documents related to the Holocaust and have come to the conclusion that the history books in schools and universities do not correspond to the truth," said Afzali, who however refused to supply the names of the revisionist historians who have been contacted to appear in the conference in Tehran. Revisionists are those who deny that the Holocaust ever happened.

In Iran, books by the English historian, David Irving, currently in custody in an Austrian jail after having been accused of denying the Holocaust, are very popular.

Among the names of possible guests at the conference are the Israeli journalist lsrael Shamir, a convert to Christianity, and Horst Mahler from Germany, a former member of the the terrorist group, the Red Army Faction. Other revisionist scholars, such as the French Robert Faurisson and the American Arthur Butz, are also some of the other possible participants of the conference in Tehran.

The Mystical Menace of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

by Daniel Pipes
New York Sun
January 10, 2006

Thanks to the president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a new word has entered the political vocabulary: mahdaviat. Not surprisingly, it's a technical religious term. Mahdaviat derives from mahdi, Arabic for "rightly-guided one," a major figure in Islamic eschatology. He is, explains the Encyclopaedia of Islam, "the restorer of religion and justice who will rule before the end of the world." The concept originated in the earliest years of Islam and, over time, became particularly identified with the Shi‘ite branch. Whereas "it never became an essential part of Sunni religious doctrine," continues the encyclopedia, "Belief in the coming of the Mahdi of the Family of the Prophet became a central aspect of the faith in radical Shi‘ism," where it is also known as the return of the Twelfth Imam.

Mahdaviat means "belief in and efforts to prepare for the Mahdi." In a fine piece of reporting, Scott Peterson of the Christian Science Monitor shows the centrality of mahdaviat in Mr. Ahmadinejad's outlook and explores its implications for his policies.

As mayor of Tehran, for example, Mr. Ahmadinejad appears to have in 2004 secretly instructed the city council to build a grand avenue to prepare for the Mahdi. A year later, as president, he allocated $17 million for a blue-tiled mosque closely associated with mahdaviat in Jamkaran, south of the capital. He has instigated the building of a direct Tehran-Jamkaran railroad line. He had a list of his proposed cabinet members dropped into a well adjacent to the Jamkaran mosque, it is said, to benefit from its purported divine connection.

He often raises the topic, and not just to Muslims. When addressing the United Nations in September, Mr. Ahmadinejad flummoxed his audience of world political leaders by concluding his address with a prayer for the Mahdi's appearance: "O mighty Lord, I pray to you to hasten the emergence of your last repository, the Promised One, that perfect and pure human being, the one that will fill this world with justice and peace."

On returning to Iran from New York, Mr. Ahmadinejad recalled the effect of his U.N. speech:

one of our group told me that when I started to say "In the name of God the almighty and merciful," he saw a light around me, and I was placed inside this aura. I felt it myself. I felt the atmosphere suddenly change, and for those 27 or 28 minutes, the leaders of the world did not blink. … And they were rapt. It seemed as if a hand was holding them there and had opened their eyes to receive the message from the Islamic republic.

What Mr. Peterson calls the "presidential obsession" with mahdaviat leads Mr. Ahmadinejad to "a certitude that leaves little room for compromise. From redressing the gulf between rich and poor in Iran, to challenging America and Israel and enhancing Iran's power with nuclear programs, every issue is designed to lay the foundation for the Mahdi's return." "Mahdaviat is a code for [Iran's Islamic] revolution, and is the spirit of the revolution," says the head of an institute dedicated to studying and speeding the Mahdi's appearance. "This kind of mentality makes you very strong," the political editor of Resalat newspaper, Amir Mohebian, observed. "If I think the Mahdi will come in two, three, or four years, why should I be soft? Now is the time to stand strong, to be hard." Some Iranians, reports PBS, "worry that their new president has no fear of international turmoil, may think it's just a sign from God."

Mahdaviat has direct and ominous implications for the U.S.-Iran confrontation, says an Ahmadinejad supporter, Hamidreza Taraghi of Iran's hard-line Islamic Coalition Society. It implies seeing Washington as the rival to Tehran and even as a false Mahdi. For Mr. Ahmadinejad, the top priority is to challenge America, and specifically to create a powerful model state based on "Islamic democracy" by which to oppose it. Mr. Taraghi predicts trouble ahead unless Americans fundamentally change their ways.

I'd reverse that formulation. The most dangerous leaders in modern history are those (such as Hitler) equipped with a totalitarian ideology and a mystical belief in their own mission. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad fulfills both these criteria, as revealed by his U.N. comments. That combined with his expected nuclear arsenal make him an adversary who must be stopped, and urgently.
